Now I know why they made me come early today, I'm training a new breakfast person.

  1. Maybe I should have posted a pic of what it should look like. But you get it, it is not supposed to be 8 slices! At least 30, folded, and symmetrical.

When I was young, it used to frustrate the hell out of me when tasks were “over explained” to me. The whole time I’m thinking, “Just let me do it already!”

Now that I’m old, I take great pride in over explaining tasks in much detail to the impatient younger generation. Not only do I get exactly what I require, but I seldom have to explain more than twice to the same person or group. Still feel a little ridiculous doing it, though.

So this same thing happens at my job, which is very white collar. (I couldn’t handle the nights, weekends, and every holiday at work).

My boss gives me a task. I complete said task. She looks at it and says how dumb I am because I didn’t give her the finished product she asked for. I look at her ask and I fulfilled it exactly as she asked.

Moral of the story: ask for exactly what you want. “Prep cheese” could “prep 30 slices of cheese, folded and symmetrical, then wrap in cling wrap, name, label, and date”. Is that more work for you? At first, yes. After time, no.

Note, I am neurodivergent so maybe this is just a me thing.

Looks like instructions were carried out.

Might not have been what you wanted but they certainly did it. I’m only mad the cheese slices aren’t neatly aligned But hey-ho, we live and we learn.
