Had the pleasure of visiting Ukiyo for their lunch service this past weekend after seeing a few posts in here raving about it. It did not disappoint. They asked how we heard of this place so I referenced the subreddit, and they said they’ve been hearing that from a few other guests too!

The lunch service was ¥6,000, which felt like great value for what you got and how delicious everything tasted. The technique and depth of flavour with the local spices was very impressive. I’m even more impressed by what chef Toshi has been able to create in such a short time. He’s a fellow Canadian, so it’s wonderful to see his path taking him from BC, to London, now to Tokyo.

I had a food restriction, so they amended my menu for the lunch to grouper, while my partner had the pork. I also won’t stop thinking about the fermented tomatoes and hibiscus drink. I don’t need to explain the food, the photos speak for themselves.

Can’t wait to come back again, I’ll make sure to book the dinner service.

Love love love this place. Lunch is crazy good value, dinner is more than worth it too, however. We try and go at least once per season. So glad mentions by me and others here are trusted. Take-san and team let me know recently about uptick in global foodies!
