SAN ANTONIO – For the last three years, Chef’s Table Mediterranean Grill on Babcock Road has been serving up traditional Turkish-Mediterranean cuisine to San Antonio residents, offering an authentic taste of Turkey that combines family recipes with rich cultural heritage.
Manager Görkem Algan has been with the restaurant since it opened, he says the goal was always clear: to bring authentic Turkish dishes to Texas using recipes handed down through generations.
“We want to bring the best traditional food to Texas,” said Algan. “Our recipes come from our grandmothers, and we aim to introduce Texans to our culture through food.”
Chef’s Table specializes in classic Turkish and Mediterranean dishes, and the Adana kebab is a standout. Named after the city of Adana in southern Turkey, the kebab features a skewer of seasoned lamb meat, served with rice and salad. Algan says it’s not only the restaurant’s best-selling dish but also one of the most flavorful items on the menu.
The restaurant also serves Levrek, a Mediterranean fish popular across Turkey, Italy, Greece, and Spain. “It’s a great dish for celebrations and special occasions,” said Algan.
Chef’s Table currently has two locations, including one in Helotes which features a Turkish bakery. The bakery offers a variety of Turkish cakes, pastries, and savory items.
With its dedication to authentic recipes and community-focused events, Chef’s Table has established itself as a unique addition to San Antonio’s dining scene. “Our staff is 100% Turkish, and most of our products come directly from Turkey,” said Algan. “That’s why it truly tastes like Turkey here.”
