I asked my daughters what they wanted for dessert. They said, “What if we go out for ice cream? What if we don’t go anywhere and I make you baklava instead? Maybe if you gave me gas money every once in a while, I’d take you more places.” If you’ve never made this before, you might want to keep it that way. You basically have to repeat this process a 100 times. If I had better things to do, I’d be really upset, but I don’t. Hey, did you know baklava and balaclava aren’t the same thing? One of them is a Middle Eastern dessert, and the other one is pretty much a ski mask. I’m ashamed to admit I thought they were the same thing until 20 minutes ago. Well, the more you know. Now, once you finish the god-awful process of assembling this, you slice it into shapes. They should be the same size. While that’s baking, we’re going to make a honeybased syrup. We’ll use this for drizzle. Once the baklava is done baking, you pour the syrup on top, but you can’t eat it right away because it needs to sit for 4 hours. Oh, look, another pain in the ass. It is, however, absolutely delicious. But unless you’re a Persian grandma, you might just want to buy

  1. As a persian I love baqlava dude, I can be too sweet for many and somtimes myself but overall its great

  2. Nope. If you want it to taste good you'll have to make it yourself, store bought isn't even a ¼ as good as homemade.

  3. As one who enjoys a good FPS plus I have an aunt who makes baklava, I knew the difference and have since at least 2007. But it's an understandable confusion. Had I not had both experiences, I would likely have been confused too.

  4. One of my favorite desserts. Rarely have it cuase its a pain to make and store bought baklava is overly sweet and disgusting
