I have a Greek yogurt bowl like this basically most mornings because I try to get in a lot of fiber for my digestion and also like to have protein. But what I did differently today was added the clean simple eats vanilla protein powder to the yogurt and it made it taste so chalky… i’d rather just chug their protein powder and water. It was that bad. at least I got my protein in and I feel really full…

  1. I hate most protein powders because of this. I recently tried Black Magic protein powder – specifically their fiesta flavors in yogurt bowls. Delicious.

Yeah I can’t get on board with the “mixing protein powder and/or sugar free pudding mix in everything” craze. I don’t understand how people like it.

I usually do half a serving of protein to a whole serving of Greek yogurt when it comes to protein powders, or a tbsp of sugar free pudding mix to a whole serving of yogurt. If you put too much, the chalkiness will happen.

Casein protien I have found mixes better into food items than whey protein. Also, letting it sit for a couple hours or overnight lends to a less gritty taste in my experience.

Adding: I usually only put 8-10grams of powder with about 200-300g of yogurt. I’ve been also mixing in part skim ricotta for fun.

I use the ProJym Tahitian vanilla but only out about a spoonful, not the whole scoop. Gives it a nice flavor without being chalky.

I think you’re right — it’s about the amount you put in.

I can only get my protein powder in through coffee. I’ve had a bad time putting it in literally everything else, including smoothies, which is what I see a lot of people recommending.

  7. How much protein powder did you have in it? I do 20g of protein powder to 200g of yoghurt, I find that ratio doesn’t taste horrible.
