That pope is going to taste harsh, they need to stop opening the lid and let him burn clean

If you have a pallet smoker, no. That’s startup smoke.

If you have an offset and it’s been 30 mins and it’s still billowing out that dirty smoke, then yes.

No need to panic, just remove it from the house before starting up. If the Cardinals protest, just explain that the carbon monoxide will get them before they get the ribs.

Your house has selected a new leader.

My pit boss does this every time which is normal just leave the lid open. I’ve heard both ways but I’m not taking a chance so I’ll leave it open.

How long do we let the new Pope rest in the cooler, when he’s done ?

That means your smoker just named the new Pope of BBQ. Rejoice!

Yes, at this point the smoke is so dirty that all a guy could really do in this scenario is pope and pray it burns off what ever is causing the smoke to be this thick

Wrap it and blast through the stall. You know when you’re done when the probe slides in like room temperature butter.

Pale blue smoke for the win, that butt is cooked

  11. How long to rest a smoked pope before you slice him.
