Is this used smoker in good condition? Should I ask for more information? Is the XL too big for a family of 4?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

Wow, they did a shit job cleaning it.

It’s worth it for a family of 4 – I have this model and use it to feed my family every week and host family dinners. You can do 3 spatchcock whole chickens on the top rack (get the 3 pack from Costco). You can do 9-10 babyback ribs racks if you fill the whole thing. You have enough room to comfortably smoke a whole turkey (recommend Meat Church Maple Bourbon Spatchcock Turkey recipe). You can also smoke 3 pork butts or lamb legs and still have an extra rack if you want to smoke some cream cheese or veggies with your meal.

When I’m just cooking for my family, I tend to use half the smoker (which is nice for cleaning racks you can alternate using the top one or bottom 3 if you plan to smoke multiple times a week).

Other tips – the wired probes it comes with can be off by 10 degrees – get yourself an instant read thermometer (recommend Thermopen one). I also have the Meater X’s (wireless) that I got for an xmas present and they are normally off by 5 degrees.

I have this model and it is great. I’ve seen them new for $1800 so this is 33% off for being used and bit gnarly inside. It’s not bad but I’d offer $1000.

I’d definitely try and get it for less. I got a brand new open item of this model for $800. But either way definitely worth getting one.

No way. Poorly taken care of. I wouldn’t buy it at all for any price. Go buy new, less problems, less headaches. You will kick yourself if you spent $1200 that junk than a week later the controller dies. Never by used anything unless you know for a FACT and IT LOOKS like it was well taken care of. Other than that your rolling the dice. If you have $1200 to roll the dice on, you can add an additional $600 and buy new IMHO.
