GRETNA, Va. (WSET) — As summer approaches and strawberries ripen, the 10th Annual Strawberry and Wine Festival in Gretna is set to kick off Saturday, May 10, offering a head start on the summer fruit season.
“We have great local wineries. We obviously got the tremendous pick-your-own strawberry farm, which is Motley’s Strawberries, so we really wanted to draw attention to that and kinda highlight them,” said Dianna Burkholder, chair of the Strawberry and Wine Festival.

Burkholder started the festival a decade ago to showcase Gretna’s own Motley’s Strawberry Farm alongside local wineries. This year, for the first time, the festival will take place on Main Street, marking it as their largest event yet.
The festival will feature 13 wineries, four food trucks, craft vendors and live bands. The event will run from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Non-wine tasting tickets are priced at $10, while tasting tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website or at Raymond James in Gretna, Miller’s Jewelry in Altavista, Karen’s Hallmark in Danville and Haymore’s Garden Center.
