I ate at a Georgian restaurant with some colleagues, where we were served some tomahawk steaks. To me it definitely looks like pork, and it tasted exactly like pork, but two waiters said it was veal, and all but one of my colleagues insisted it was veal. Am I crazy, or is this not obviously pork?

  1. Looks like veal. Hopefully, it’s veal. I wouldn’t eat pork that pink. Both should officially be 145 F, but personally I would go down to 140 for pork or 135 for veal depending on the source.

This looks like veal to me. The grain is courser. Pork rib chops tend to have a tighter grain. That tone of pink also is also more indicative of veal.

I think it might be the OTHER other white meat… 🤔

  5. Might be veal? Pork should be a bit lighter and rougher.
