Have been wanting one of these. Please tell me the quality of the sear you achieve.

Never EVER look away from food in the salamander, it WILL burn.

Can someone tell me how this is different from the Broil High setting on a conventional gas oven?

I really want one of these, but can’t justify the cost for how infrequently it’ll likely be used. Hoping for maybe a killer Black Friday deal

I kinda question whether this is any more effective than a hot cast iron, from a heat transfer perspective. My guess is that what sets this salamander apart is the gas/flame flavor

  6. I have this same model. It sears fast and hot.

I really like that I don’t get any outside flavors, like I do with avacado oil or ghee or tallow on the cast iron.

I bought one when the price dipped to $180. I am tired of fooling around with cast iron or charcoal chimney. I haven’t taken it out of the box yet

I hate how they started calling these infrared. Like I know it’s technically correct but it makes me think of heating something under a red lamp or LEDs.

But yes ceramic sear burners are the bee’s tits

  9. No “searing” happening whatsoever? That’s a big grey band making machine.

The sally will stab you if you turn your back, never trust it. It is one of the things I miss from the kitchen life. This may be showing up at my door soon now

  11. i guess i’m really bad at gauging the effects of high temps since i was sure that 1,500 degrees would incinerate the steak like linda hamilton in the doomsday scene from terminator 2.

I see you even have veggies down below to catch all the drippings. 10/10, no notes. You clearly know what you’re doing.

I see these on Amazon and I’m always tempted to get one for myself.

Maybe one of these days I’ll finally bite.

Damnit, I just laid out 200 bucks for a high powered wok burner and was looking at this on Amazon last night. I think OP is trying to get me killed.

Very cool, looks like a bitch to try and keep clean.

That steak will be done well before those potatoes

Not sure if mine got to 1500 because my thermometer pegged out at 1000

I use it outside only. Catalytic burners generate a lot of heat.
