Our tomatoes are off to a good start this spring. Planted early May, they’ve already grown a couple feet tall. We’re keeping them upright and trained on our trellis with vertical strings. We twist the new growth around the twine once a week as they grow. Later in the season, we’ll add a few more strings to help support heavy branches as they set fruit.

  1. Trellising looks great, I basically do my tomatoes this way. BUT I see alot of suckers on the tomatoe vines. If you don’t pinch/cut out the suckers you will have a jungle of vines/leaves & not as much fruit. Check out some of the many videos on YouTube about pinching out the suckers.
Your Garden looks so healthy, nice garlic too! 👨🏻‍🌾 🍅🧄

  2. Instead of clips, I use chenille stems looped loosely once around the string and then around the plant. They’re less than a dollar at Walmart and I cut them in half, so each stem makes 2 loops.

  3. Don't use plastic clips. Just stick the line into the ground , under the root, when you plant and then just twist the plant into it while it grows. It works like a charm.
