I picked this tin of Deutsche Kuche Herring Fillets in Mango Pepper Sauce at Aldi's for just $1.69. Thought I would try them and the tin didn't disappoint.

The herring fillets were firm, yet remarkably tender and flakey. The texture of the herring provided a wonderful base for the mango pepper sauce.

It was light and tasty, and a subtle sweetness from the mango and a gentle warmth from the pepper. It complimented the fish without overpowering it, allowing the natural flavor of the herring to shine through, which I appreciate.

I think this tin is well worth picking up a can or two on your next visit. Keep in mind though that these are only offered at Aldi's for a limited time.

Did you just raw-dog it from the tin? Over rice? I picked up this tin and a pineapple one and I’m not sure what to do with them.

I had these, the curry pineapple, and tomato sauce to try recently. They were all really pleasant.

  3. I just had these (and the curry pineapple one) and both were great, 5/5.

Also purchased from Aldi, though the ones I had were OceanRise brand, so the tin looks different – https://www.aldi.com.au/product/ocean-rise-herring-fillets-in-mango-pepper-sauce-200g-000000000262684004

But ya really good. Great straight out of the tin, but I’m sure you could just plop them on some leftover rice and microwave and it’d feel like a complete meal. Or with some warm, fluffy bread/roti to mop up all the sauce. Yum.
