
Came from pellet smoking. so I was nervous about controlling the egg this long but it was a breeze. Filled it to the top with Fogo gold and hickory chunks. Made sure it was stable for about an hour then cooked pork butt for 14 hours. Pleasantly surprised. Still can’t believe it only burnt about half the coals.
Finally did a long smoke. 14 hour success.

I’m in the same boat as you and trying to dial in the bge coming from a Traeger is a little tricky at first but I think I’ll get there. I slightly overcooked some ribs this weekend but the fam still enjoyed them. I’m loving the bge so far, but I haven’t done a long cook yet. Stack it full with lump and layer with hardwood chunks? Is that the consensus?
