I was in New York a few weeks ago and had the chance t sit down with Master Sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier to speak about her journey from academia to the world of wine.

We discuss her Chepika project in the Finger Lakes, the evolving role of the sommelier, and shifting American tastes toward biodynamic and grower wines. We also spoke about women shaping the wine world and dive into emerging regions and overlooked grape varieties.

I wanted to go into these interviews in a longer format because I feel like this facet of the industry is generally underrepresented and it can be a nice opportunity to delve into details from winemakers & somms.

Would love to know your thoughts!

I just bought her book, had no time to read it yet. Was a nice opportunity to listen to her, thank you so much.

She is so right about Jancis being underrated in the trade. One of the humblest, funniest wine expert there that made wine easier to understood for the masses, I remember watching her old videos on YouTube like 10 years ago (those were already old back then, don’t tell this to her!) where she is advising people where to buy witch wines – like suppliers but also as in the UK the wine trade is more evolved she advised on tesco deals and sort of supermarkets.

By the way the tumbnail with the Jura is as stereotypical French sommelier as possible >.<
