Who doesn’t love the buttery goodness of a crescent roll?! I love having crescent rolls to use in creative recipes because not only are they convenient, they cost less than $2 at Aldi. Dinner made with crescent rolls really makes for easy and budget friendly options that my family loves.

#crescentrolls
Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. In today’s video, I am making three different family dinners using a can of crescent rolls. All right, if you’re new here, hi, I’m Claire. Welcome. Come on in. Make yourselves comfortable. There’s a whole lot of cooking on this channel. I like budget friendly recipes. I like single serving recipes. I love a small appliance. And I like recipes that are easy and utilize, easy to work with, and budget friendly ingredients. note the crescent rolls. So, I got these crescent rolls at Aldi. It’s their bake house brand and they’re just under $2 for a can of them. There are eight in here. Uh, and I love a good crescent roll. I love a good pig in a blanket. Uh, but there are lots of cool things you can do with a can of crescent rolls. So, I thought this week, let’s have some delicious uh dinners all centered around uh the easy peasy crescent roll. Let’s get right into the first casserole recipe. All right, we are starting off with some delicious chicken pot pie. This is a favorite of mine. Uh, and the ingredients are really simple. You’re going to need some pre-cooked chicken. So, this is perfect if you have like a rotisserie chicken, if you have leftover chicken. I prepped these thighs uh like two days ago. I’d used one on a salad. Um, I like to do that when I get meat on sale. I’ll just like cook it and, you know, make different recipes, enchiladas, whatnot. Uh, and this is a perfect thing to use this for. You’re going to need 2 and 1/2 cups of chicken. You could also use canned chicken. If you don’t want to like mess with it, you can totally do that. Uh, but for 2 and 1/2 cups, the four thighs ended up being the perfect amount. And I’m just chopping up uh the thighs into bite-sized pieces. You could use like a shredded chicken. Uh, use your Instant Pot to prep your chicken or, you know, go get a rotisserie chicken. Any of those options work. Uh, so I’ve got 2 and 1/2 cups of chicken. Uh, to this I am going to go ahead and add uh an entire can of cream of chicken soup. I got this at Aldi, of course, because Aldi is my favorite if you didn’t already know that. I get like 90% of my groceries at Aldi. Uh, so we’ve got a can of that. Now, I’ve got a whole bag of mixed frozen vegetables. And I suppose you could use any kind of vegetables that you’re in the mood for. However, I think the classic peas, carrots, corn, and beans makes the most sense uh in this situation. So, we’re throwing the whole thing in there. I’ve also got a half a cup of milk. This is just 2%. And for our seasonings, I’m doing two teaspoon of garlic powder. I’m also doing 1 teaspoon of onion powder. And then I’m doing 2 tepoon of Italian seasoning. But if you like this, you know, with maybe thyme or rosemary, season how you like. And also note that we are not adding any salt to this. And that is because those condensed soups are usually quite salty. I went ahead and put this in a 9 by13 pan. I prefer it in a 9 by13. It is a bit thin. If you want it to be like really really thick, you could put it in a pie pan. I like a nine by13 because then the crescent rolls are like almost the perfect size and then I really do not have to try that hard. And you guys, that is the goal of this today. Um it’s like almost the perfect rectangle without having to like put it on my counter and roll it out and and that’s what we’re here for. So that’s why I prefer a 9 by13. And you know, I’m pinching it a little bit, but I’m not trying that hard. It doesn’t need to be completely covered. It can bubble through the center. it can bubble on the edges. This is a rustic pot pie, guys. All right, I have my oven preheated to 375, and this is going to take between 25 uh to 35 minutes, somewhere between there. Uh just wait till it’s brown. Everything in there is cooked. Uh so, you don’t need to like worry about it being raw. And guys, I’m going the extra mile here. We’ve got a stick of butter that I’m just rubbing on the top. And then I’m sticking some fresh parsley on top of that. I don’t really think parsley has that much flavor. But it looks very pretty. And sometimes that is all I need in order to really enjoy a meal. It’s got to look nice. Uh and and there we have it. And uh my son Desmond, this is like one of his favorites. He loves a chicken pot pie. And so he asked that he be the one to taste test it for the video. And he’s so cute. He’s pretending like it’s his first time ever. Amazing. He has this a lot. He’s so silly, but it was good. All right, next guys, brace yourselves for this cheese pull. Oh my gosh, I’m making little cowzones. And I know what you’re thinking. Claire, that’s really simple. Kelzones are simple. We just use pizza dough. Okay, but listen to me. You have never had a cowzone like this because a crescent roll cowzone is buttery. Imagine a delicious pizza and then imagine it being flaky and buttery. Maybe that doesn’t make sense to you, but I’m telling you, you should try it because it is the most delicious combination. And for my family, I’m using just one can of crescent rolls. It’s going to make four of these mini calzones. I’m using two crescent rolls per rectangle. I’m just, you know, rolling it out. You could make two giant ones. You could make eight teeny tiny ones. Uh you could make more than this if you use more than one can of crescent rolls. I don’t know. You do you. I am using just plain old tomato sauce. sauce. I’m adding a little salt to that because it is tomato sauce I made myself and it’s not seasoned in any way. And I’m also using mozzarella cheese. Today I got the pre-shredded mozzarella cheese. I buy the cheapest cheese per ounce there is. Sometimes I’m shredding my own block. Sometimes I’m buying it already shredded. Uh today was one of those days. And I’m also adding pepperoni because it was on sale. It was like $1.99 at Aldi today. It blew my mind. I bought a bunch of them. Uh but use, you know, whatever you want. This would be a really easy recipe to make vegetarian. You could put veggies in there. You could put last night’s leftovers in there. Put whatever in there that you like. We’re doing pepperoni. And I am also adding to that a little bit of Italian seasoning. And then we’re going to wrap it on up. We’re just going to fold it in half and we’re going to crimp the edges. Now, don’t worry if your crimping game isn’t, you know, incredible cuz mine certainly isn’t. It doesn’t really matter that much, okay? Just seal it on up as best you can. It’s not going to hurt anything if it’s not perfectly sealed. It’s not going to matter if you don’t have perfect little crimps. Just seal it on up. It’s fine. Again, the theme is rustic here. Okay. And I’m just going to stab it with a fork a few times just so it doesn’t get real puffy. And then I’m going to hit it with a little bit of olive oil. Not totally necessary, but you know, it’s pizza e. The olive oil just makes a little bit of sense. And it’s going to help our uh last ingredient stick, which of course is some Italian seasoning right on top. And I know this is so simple, but trust me when I tell you, a buttery crust with a pizza center, incredible. 10 out of 10. And these don’t take hardly any time at all. Again, with a 375°ree oven, these are going to take between 13 and 15 minutes, which is like almost the same as it takes to just bake a crescent roll. Uh, and we love that. It’s really fast. And, uh, of course, oh, look at that. Look at that. I have to uh play the same uh clip for you one more time of that cheese pole because it is a pretty incredible clip. Look at that. I wish I had one right now as I’m recording this voice over. I served this with a chopped Caesar salad. It filled everybody up. Super tasty. Love. All right, the last recipe, you guys. It’s a classic. We are going back to the late 90s. We are doing a Pamper Chef taco ring. I don’t know if this recipe had your family in a chokeold, but I came from a Pamper Chef household, which is why you see I use mostly stone wear still. Uh even as an adult, I am fully on the stone train when it comes to Pamper Chef. And my mother used to make a taco ring all the time for us. This was like a signature recipe growing up. You probably have had this. If not, you had it at a Pamper Chef party or you saw it maybe. And if not, welcome. I’m glad I could share this with you. And maybe this is a recipe you forgot about. So, I thought we would bring back the taco ring. You need 1 and 12 lbs of ground beef and you’re just going to brown it. I love this recipe cuz it’s so simple. That is really like a Pamper Chef staple is like as few ingredients and easy to find ingredients and like it’s all about convenience, which we love. So, you’re just cooking that beef one and a half pounds and you’re going to drain it. You don’t want any of that fat in there. Drain it out. Then you’re going to put it in a big old bowl. And now we’re going to add one whole packet of taco seasoning. And we’re also going to add some cheese. Now, the original paper chuff recipe calls for cheddar cheese. However, I like to swap it out for taco cheese because then it’s just extra tacoey, and we love that. So, you’re going to need a cup and a half of cheese, but use use the cheese of your personal preference. And we’re also going to add 2 tablebspoon of water. We’re going to give that a nice mix. Make sure that powder is all dispersed. You would hate to bite into a taco ring and just get a mouthful of powder. So, make sure you’ve got that uh dispersed. Now, for the crescent rolls, you need two cans for a real true taco ring. You could uh cut this recipe in half and use one can if you wanted. And here’s the trick because let me tell you, I’ve watched my mother do this a million times in my life. The key to getting an even taco ring is you start north, south, east, west first. And you want the centers to be uh like the center like rectangle to be about 5 in. So you start there and that sort of sets your shape. And then every crescent roll you add, you add in the negative space between two other crescent rolls. Okay. And I’m shout out to my mom, Sue. You’re a real one. Thanks for teaching me this. Uh because my rings of all sorts, because you don’t have to do a taco ring. You could do this method and throw anything inside of it. They’re always even and they’re always beautiful. And it’s because my mom taught me this. So anyway, there’s all your crescent rolls. It’s a lot. That’s a thick stack. So I’m going to go ahead and use my little roller, which is also a Pamper Chef item. Jeez, this sounds like a Pampered Chef advertisement. I don’t sell Pamper Chef. Not something that’s a thing I really actually look for it at thrift stores and garage sales because I often find a lot of great pieces. I think this stone and this roller came from a garage sale. And now we’re going to put our filling in there. And it might seem like a lot of filling, but pack it in there and just leave a little bit of space uh in the circle area so that when we go to uh fold our little triangles over, they have a place to stick to. And just disperse it evenly. And then when you are tucking your little triangles, I like to do it so that they all go to one side. See how I’m putting that to the side? The next one I’m putting that little tail in to the same direction. And uh you just do that all the way around. And they start to angle a little and they look nice and pretty. And you want to have those little like opening slots so you can see what’s inside because I think that really adds to like the the presentation. And the original recipe calls for an egg wash on top, but have you seen the egg prices lately? I am not putting egg wash on this. It’s going to be brown. We don’t need an egg wash. Save your dollar. Okay. But we are going to add just a little bit of cheese on there. And the cheese is a great little addition because it gets nice and crispy on there. Uh and it looks nice and it tastes good. So, throwing about a/4 cup on the top. Now, we are going to put it in again a 375°ree oven. This is going to be 25 to 30 minutes. Uh mine took about 27. And look at that. My kitchen smelled like my childhood and I absolutely loved it. Uh we ended up serving this with a southwest salad from one of those kits from Aldi, which was just the perfect uh sort of combination. My mom sometimes would put uh like lettuce and uh like tomatoes and onions in the center of the ring. I didn’t want to do that. Sorry, mom. I I did it my way. And guys, it tastes just like I remember. I don’t know why I don’t make this more often. It’s so easy. It’s so tasty. I’m bringing it back in the rotation. Hopefully, I can inspire you to bring back the old taco ring. All right, you guys. Thank you so much for watching. I hope I’ve inspired you to get a little creative with your crescent rolls. Uh, leave me a comment down below. Let me know what do you make with crescent rolls other than obviously crescent rolls. Uh, I’d love to hear your ideas. Uh, because, you know, I love a kitchen hack. I love, uh, using ingredients that make life easier. So, if you have any great ideas, make sure you leave them for everyone down below. Be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already and like and share and do all the things that help us grow over here. And yeah, thanks for watching. I’ll see you guys in my next one. Bye. [Music]

You can use crescent rolls to make a faux King Cake. Cream cheese with cinnamon, sugar, (or honey). Roll up the ring.

Love me some Pampered Chef! Definitely fondly remember the party days. Seem to remember doing some kind of tuna, frozen veggie, and something else filling in that "wreath" of crescent roll dough too that was also pretty tasty.

Never seen the taco ring before, will have to try.
I guess I had better get my butt to Aldi (again)!!!
LOVE the little crescent pockets idea!! Such a great way to make a messy food like pizza a little less crazy for my little kids haha. Would love to see if it would work with like a breakfasty filling, or maybe even some kind of goat cheese and pesto situation. Loving this idea! Also feels like a great way to make some leftovers stretch a little bit if there aren't enough for your family. Bulk 'em up by putting them in a pocket!
Those calzones are everything! I've made something similar with crescent rolls but love your square layout with the olive oil gonna make it this way next time.
Store brand Cresent rolls are usually vegan so I make the Pilsbury bake-off zuchinni pie with vegan egg substitute (ju.st) etc.
Thank you! I'm going to try this today.
