So the Master Built died again, control panel wouldn't allow it to get up to temp and keep a flame. So had to follow a fall back plan. Picked this one up off Amazon. Will share some results as soon as I get a chance to use it. It's tiny but seems to get up to temp quickly and can get up to 450 f. So let's see…

  1. I have this one as well. Works well great. After years though I just can’t figure out how to make smoke go for more than like 45 minutes before needing to restock, opening that door and killing my momentum.

What’s with the bowl covering the exhaust vent though?

I had a Masterbuilt gas smoker for a while. I got it because I was getting into smiling a lot and my pregnant wife said “you’re not going to be able to sit around and watch a smoker all weekend after we have this baby. She was right. I would have gotten a pellet smoker but I didn’t want to drop $500 or more with a baby on the way and I didn’t want to get a cheap one and have it break after a year or two. Imo gas and electric smokers are the best option for cheap set and forget smoking. The tradeoffs are less smoke flavor (which a lot of people actually don’t mind) and less pink ring which is mainly just aesthetic anyways. My gas smoker served it’s purpose a few years until I found a Masterbuilt gravity smoker on sale for $300.
