Dear experts,

I'm more of a spare rib guy so not too sure how a good brisket is supposed to look, but I'm trying to learn. How's the color and render look? Trying to learn what to look for for when I start doing briskets.

    Looks good to me. Good smoke ring, juicy, looks pretty tender. My only critique would be too much fat was left on and could have used a slightly better trim

  2. Looks pretty good to me. Should have took a few pics so we can get a better look of the bark and how the piece as a whole looks, but looks pretty good from this angle.

    It’d be easier to tell if it was laid out flat, but looks pretty good to me.

    Go look at Bar A BBQ’s IG/YouTube if you want to see what a good brisket looks like.

  5. To me it looks like the left too much fat. The perfect look ( at least for the fat ), should be all the fat with that golden color.

    it looks good…maybe a bit on the dry side. do a pull test and a bend test. grab a slice at both ends and gently pull and it should resist a bit and then come apart. lay a piece over your finger and should drape down vertically and not point sideways, nor fall apart.

    Pictures are always deceiving to me… part of it looks dry, but the succulent fat on your thumb says otherwise. I can see a good bark. Nice smoke ring. Not concerned with the fat.

    Here’s the question though… what did you think?

    looks like it was a hot and fast cook. Personally not a fan of those.

    Not too bad, and might have just been in the container a while but the meat is fairly dry. Bark looks okay. If it ate good then thats all that matters
