In the beginning of the season I was planning on temporarily letting these seedlings grow for a little bit, until they got to a certain size to move them into their own containers. But what would happen if I were to leave them together (same variety in each container)

They may not grow in that big of a pot as of just yet, when they are small like that usually go for a solo cup size til about 8-10” tall, then re-pot into something bigger

In my experience with other fruit-producing plants, you’ll probably get an overall yield that is comparable, if not a little bit less, than one big, healthy plant. This may also come with a higher chance of problems (pests, fungus) than having one plant.

With creative pruning though, you might be able to squeak out a bigger yield overall. If left as is, I think a couple plants will dominate and a few others will remain significantly smaller.

It’s an interesting experiment if you want to see what happens.

I’d at least get rid of a few of them

  4. They’ll compete for water, sun, and nutrients and produce poorly. You’re much better off separating them out now while they’re small.
