I love Japanese curry mixes! So easy to make and so delicious.
My Japanese friend taught me to add an apple to this kind of curry to make it a bit sweeter.

Country style boneless pork rib was on sale, and the curry box was $6. I used half the pork and half the curry roux blocks to make this batch for 4 servings. Below is for the full servings.

    1 box House Vermont Curry Sauce Mix1.1 lb (500 g) meat4 onions (1.8 lb, 800 g)3 potatoes (1 lb, 450 g)1 carrot (7 oz, 200 g)2 tablespoons vegetable oil5 4/5 cups (1,400 ml) water
(5 1/5 cups (1,250 ml) if cooking in a covered pot)
*1 cup (US) = Approx. 240 mlNote: For 6 servings, use half the ingredients with 3 1/2 cups of water (850 ml) or 3 1/5 cups (750 ml) if cooking in a covered pot.

    DIRECTIONS

    Sauté ingredients

Preheat oil in pot, add bite-size pieces of meat and vegetables, and sauté well

    Add water and simmer

Simmer until ingredients soften (about 15 minutes).
    Add curry sauce mix

Break apart curry sauce mix into pot and stir until dissolved.

Simmer once more, stirring occasionally (about 10 minutes)

    Simmer until curry thickens

I usually make it with chicken and S&B curry mix, but yours looks so much better! I will have to try it your way!

You did all the work minus the sauce. Vermont and golden are the only sauces I will touch they always deliver. Every spice level is good just grab the spice level you are feeling grab some apples potatoes and carrots and any meat you want and sweeten slightly with a little honey. I personally like to make mine dummy thick and it goes against the curry gods but I like it to clump my rice together so I just add a little starch or flour until it falls off my spoon in globs instead of running. Try it sometime. It won’t look right, forewarning, but I’m really into the consistency. I eat it on bread this way as well.

I have been wanting to try this but my spouse is uneducated in other foods….. what is the flavor profile on this? I have gotten him to eat butter chicken. If I tell him he has had it before and “loved” it 🤣🤣🤣he is down to eat it. At almost 69 he is still a big baby about new foods 🙄🙄😑😑 I’m a freeking executive chef for jeebus sake! I can make pretty much anything.

That stuff is sooo good. I bought some just last week. My mother in law and I ate one box and the other is in the cabinet!

We sprinkled crushed seaweed flakes over the top with a bit of sunflower seeds on the rice.

She is actually originally born and raised in Japan, so she’s particular too. Good stuff.

  12. They sell Golden by me instead but otherwise this is one of my go to easy cheap meals! Delicious with cubed beef but good with just vegetables too. Im
