Just got this from Costco today. It smells a bit different from normal and I'm wondering if it's safe to eat

If it doesn’t smell normal get your money back..if it does and that colored part makes you feel uncomfortable, cut it off.

The color on the left side looks like some hot water damage from processing and some excess inspection ink, which is normally on the fat cap and is made from berries or something else food-safe like beet juice. Just trim it off and enjoy! I’m a meat cutter and both of these are normal to see on primals.

Could be oxidation, could be old. Touching old meat is gross feeling. Smell touch taste.

Anything’s edible if you’re determined enough.

you might want to cook it first.

Looks raw to me.

I wouldn’t risk it, and I would go get my money back.
