MONTROSE, Pa. (WBNG) — The streets of Montrose were filled with the sights, sounds, and sips of the 16th annual Susquehanna Wine Festival on Saturday.
“We’ve got crafters of all kinds, our local restaurants have amazing things to offer,” said the festival’s president, Tom Follert. “You can’t go wrong here, come on down.”
What first started as the Montrose Wine and Chocolate Festival has now blossomed over the last decade and a half to attract more local businesses.
“You know I grew up in Montrose, so it’s really important to me that we showcase what we have here,” Follert told 12 News. “It’s an amazing little town with really dedicated business owners and people who live here. We love to support each other any way we can.”
Many local businesses, such as Hidden Creek Vineyard and Winey, said they love the opportunity to connect with their community.
“It’s great being in our hometown here,” said Daniel Leichliter from Hidden Creek Vineyard. “It’s nice to be a part of this community and see people that we see often and see people that we don’t see very often.”
Whether wine, hard cider, beer or flower crowns are your thing, the Montrose Wine Festival had something for everyone.
“My favorite part of the festival is the people, no doubt, no doubt the people, “said Leichliter.
Follert echoed his sentiments. “Honestly, I love seeing people around town, smiling faces, enjoying the weather, being outside, really getting a chance to see what we have here,“ he said.
Follert told 12 News that the festival brings residents and vendors from all over the county and beyond. He says it is a great way for new businesses like Country Trails Brewery to interact with potential clientele.
