I noticed my fire grate cracked and started the warranty process being it was coming up on the 5 year limit for metal parts. Once I found my original receipt and submitted the claim to BGE they give you the option to ship the part to you which has pretty substantial shipping costs attached which you are responsible for, or you have the option to pickup at a local ace once you show them a QR code from BGE.

Good on you for keeping the receipt that long.
I did my warranty claim and also chose to pick up at a local dealer. The frustrating part is it took 4 months to get. I kept asking and they kept saying it will be a few weeks.
Also when I found my receipt I took a picture of it with my phone as it is easier to call it up than to try and find a paper receipt. They accepted the picture just fine.
It took me a bit to get my Warranty accepted (12+ year old egg receipt long gone). Once I did my local ace hardware told me “we have a spare XL in the back. We’ll just give you any parts you need off it and rebuild it with your warranty parts on your next order”
I drive 20 minutes out of my way to buy charcoal, and anything else I might need from them now.
