Bar Terroir, a new 38-seat French restaurant, will open soon at 3636 Henderson Blvd.

South Tampa is about to get a fresh dose of Parisian charm with the arrival of Bar Terroir, a new restaurant set to open June 5 at 3636 Henderson Boulevard. Combining classic French cuisine with a modern, Tampa-inspired twist, Bar Terroir aims to bring the elegance of French dining into a warm and welcoming neighborhood setting.

The name Bar Terroir reflects the restaurant’s core philosophy. Terroir refers to the unique environment—soil, topography, and climate—where wine is produced. That sense of place carries into the curated wine list and meticulously crafted menu, each shaped by a love for regional flavor.

Behind the scenes is a powerhouse culinary team with experience at world-renowned restaurants like Eleven Madison Park, Bresca, and Jônt. The kitchen is led by Max McKee, former executive sous chef at Michelin-starred Rocca, while front-of-house operations are overseen by Kyle Burton, whose passion for hospitality helps create Bar Terroir’s approachable yet refined atmosphere.a menagerie of food laid out on the table at Bar Terroir in South Tampa.a menagerie of food laid out on the table at Bar Terroir in South Tampa.Bar Terroir features a meticulously crafted menu inspired by the philosophy of “terroir“: how regions influence the taste of wine grapes. Bar Terroir pays homage to French classics with a modern twist

The menu honors traditional French fare while keeping things fresh and accessible. Signature dishes include onion soup, escargot, steak frites, beef bourguignon, and cassoulet. The wine list leans heavily on French varietals, with a special emphasis on champagnes and burgundies. The cocktail program reimagines familiar drinks using French-inspired ingredients and techniques.

The 38-seat dining room features marble checkered floors, burgundy banquettes, and an intimate, old-world aesthetic. For a more casual experience, guests can gather at the lively walk-in bar or enjoy the expansive covered patio, which adds 64 outdoor seats—perfect for sipping spritzes and sharing small plates on warm Tampa evenings.

A view into the open kitchen provides a front-row seat to the culinary artistry behind each dish. Though compact in size, the kitchen is primed to deliver bold flavors, thoughtful presentation, and high-caliber technique.

Dinner service will be offered Thursday through Monday, with plans already in motion for a Saturday and Sunday brunch that promises to become a weekend favorite.
