(Pictured is my last attempt and isn’t recommended since the plastic part was sharp)
I visited France last week and saw these in a store. I thought I’d bring them back since they reminded me of the candies my brother brought back from Columbia (they were also in a shell but had delicious soft candied caramel or sweet candied milk in it…they came with tiny spoons) I don’t know what they were called and these resembles the same shape. I don’t speak or read French so I based my purchase solely on appearance 😔
Before I left my house this morning …I thought I’d open the bag and have one. I was so excited until I removed it from the plastic wrapping. The candy part was hard! I was confused on how to eat this now because the plastic shell isn’t edible at all (yes…I tried to bite it) and that’s when I realized I might have to stick the whole thing into my mouth to try and dissolve the candy that was in it. So I did that…I lasted about 30 seconds before I started to drool cuz its not like its really easy to lick the candy side of it without letting the plastic shell part sit uncomfortably under the roof of my mouth. Then I actually tried scooping it out with a spoon and that didn’t work. Idk why I even tried. Then I tried turning it upside down to bang the back of it with the kitchen mallet and it stayed put.
At this point…im realizing my regular two seconds that it was supposed to take me to leave my house has now taken me 20 minutes cuz I’m trying to figure out how to eat this thing. My last resort was to cut the shell and pry out the piece of candy but there was a tiny nub in the center to keep the candy in place…and that’s when I realized why it was so hard to just pry it out no matter what I tried. I cursed that tiny nub and I ended up slowly getting the candy out by licking and cutting through the other side and then popping the rest out of the shell. 5-10 mins more and I was done.
About 30 mins of my morning was me tying to eat this one piece of candy. I would have loved to be on my way out earlier but I was completely invested in trying to just get the candy out of the shell to eat it.
Please …if there is a better way to eat this candy in public without having to hold it in one hand and licking the crap out of it like I’m practicing how to be a lesbian…help mee oouuuttt!!! 😭😭😭

The French song sings “the real roudoudous are the ones that cut your tongue” 😁
Basically, all you need to do is lick it while it’s in the shell. They used to do it real shells and that’s what kids did back in the years. Try doing the same
https://youtube.com/shorts/85wBIowI4uU?si=jx6wo1Ku3WcD-4cF it looks like you hold one side and just…lick it like a sucker?
Yeah, I believe you should lick it. All articles on Google mention it as an lollipop and it is usually made inside a real shell…
looks like you’re gonna make your future wife verrrry happy.
Used to eat these as a kid in the NL. It’s a sucker, you lick it out of the shell. I’ve had some in real shells, too.
I think you lick it out. Look the candy up
Sorry nobody understands your issue op. I don’t, but I have no advice as I’ve never seen these before. Good luck 🤞
I loovedd these as a child, u just lick them, it’s like a lollypop.. but in a shell.. if that’s not Ur thing u should definitely throw em out
You eat them like a lollipop, but instead of the stick, you hold the shell part.
What do you do as a job to allow for 30 minutes of trying to eat a sweet?
These may be “at home candies” from what I’m reading in the comments 😂
Microwave, snip a hole with scissors, and slurp out
Er got similiar things in germany you just have to lick the candy
Lol! How weird! But cute and weird. Shells of a mullusk variety as the shell of a sea turtle, but colored plastic. Or is it plastic? But something inside, –the turtle?? But it doesn’t look like what is normally called a turtle in confectionary stuff, which is normally chocolate covered peanuts or other nuts in a cluster.
I’ve never had the chance go visit France, but your picture suddenly shed lights on some lyrics by Fench singer Renaud, about those candies
“Et les vrais roudoudous qui nous coupaient les lèvres et nous niquaient les dents”. – Mistral gagnant.
“and the real roudoudous which cut our lips and caused cavities” (my own translation).
Thank you for the pictures, now i know what a roudoudou looks like.
So are these pronounced “rue-doo-doos?”
Ha! He doesn’t know how to use the three sea shells
