Hello xD as the title said, I’m looking for an authentic sukiyaki restaurant here in Toronto. I’ve been to Daimaru and I think what they call sukiyaki is just shabushabu with sukiyaki flavor. Here is what I have in mind: https://youtu.be/wCMDcjgFV-w?, although I wouldn’t expect it to be exactly the same, I just want to have a sukiyaki where the meat is not bathed in the broth but seared/fried -> hence the “yaki” in the name of the dish, means “grilled” xD my search on google just give me the same results with Daimaru and Matsutei, both of which are just shabushabu haha. So if you have any recommendations, it would be a great help! Thank you very much!

There’s none that I know of in Toronto unfortunately. That being said there are different styles of sukiyaki and some also don’t sear the beef. You should try making one at home, it’s worth doing because the seared braised meat is absolutely divine. The more marbled the better.
I think the closest thing you can get here might be Taki Japanese cuisine in Markham/highway 7. If you’re downtown then maybe Nami based on pictures/reviews on google.
Like what the other person said, it’s not difficult to make at home. If you’re lazy or you want the cheap option instead of eating at a restaurant, I think Gyubee has a takeout/ubereats sukiyaki set that you can buy and cook yourself at home. Some Chinese grocery stores even sell the sukiyaki soup/liquid. FYI I’ve only eaten sukiyaki at home in Canada so I can’t ensure the quality of the restaurants I suggested.
