Hey all, I bought this BGE on Facebook including a table (that needs to be rebuilt) for $350. Came with a bunch of accessories so I thought I was getting a good deal. I also knew it needed a new firebox but was told I could use the current one until I bought a new one.
I’m having a bit of buyers remorse that not only is the firebox damaged, the table needs to be replaced, and now the bottom of this is cracked. Just feeling a bit dumb. Am I screwed with this crack?

Sometimes they do open enrollment for registration of BGE’s, you can try registering if you have the S/N, or have the warranty claim done in the owner’s name?
Or, if last resort: [https://www.jjgeorgestore.com/grillmaster-tips-1/how-to-fix-a-cracked-or-broken-big-green-egg-fire-box-or-plate-setter/](https://www.jjgeorgestore.com/grillmaster-tips-1/how-to-fix-a-cracked-or-broken-big-green-egg-fire-box-or-plate-setter/)
All the kings horses and all the kings men…
warranty wise maybe hit up the seller if they’re nice enough they’ll file a claim for you. (though you’re supposed to have a gap between the base & sitting surface)..
Otherwise id maybe put some of that clay used for ovens to keep it from spreading.
Unfortunately I think this is worst case scenario. It could be fine forever. But my anxiety would run crazy if I had a crack in the base. The potential for the thing to break and hot coals to fall out would worry me to death. Depends on what you’re okay with.
There is probably a reason you got it all for $350, enjoy what you can while you can, you may just run into issues with maintaining proper airflow. Another thing I would do is get some feet or a base and allow some airflow under the base. I can’t find the reason why, but it has been recommended heavily in the past.
Is it just coincidence that the crack in the egg almost aligns with the pavers under need? Did it have a rough landing when installing it?
If the warranty route ends up going nowhere you could try to patch it with some furnace cement. Just google it, there’s some resources on how other people did it.
Or just get a new base, you’ll still save some money for not having to buy a dome and accessories compared to new.
I would snatch up a large BGE with accessories and that crack for $350. A little glue and you should be good for years.
If it bothers you, relist it for the same price and buy another.
Should those have feet on the bottom to prevent this?
Those should have feet on the bottom. Thats why it cracked.
Just use bricks underneath as supports and hold the heat in.
Until it gives , or maybe you will be lucky. They were🫠
Sorry . It’s not cool to disclose why they were selling
Other than to recoup the original investment
Mine was cracked and I used it for a long time before making warranty claim. Will remain very stable as long as you’re not moving it.
Contact the seller and ask if they have a warranty. If they do, you may be able to transfer (you’re their nephew or cousin or some shit, make it up).
Otherwise, there’s products to seal the crack. Personally I’d find a band to go around it that gently squeezes everything together. It’s a pretty fine crack, so you’re not screwed. As others have said, get some airflow underneath the base so you’re not losing heat/burning through fuel rapidly
you are screwed indeed. sorry about this. that’s going to become unsafe to use here pretty quickly.
