ET HospitalityWorld caught up with Vianney Meynier who heads Business France about the event and his organisation’s purpose of organising it. “Business France is the national agency in charge of trade and investment. Our mission is to help French companies in their international development, as well as helping out international investors in their investment project in France,” Meynier said about the core purpose of Business France.
The French Patisserie Competition is sponsored by various French companies who are present in the food sector in India and the idea is for chefs across the country to participate by creating dishes using these ingredients.
“The French Patissie Competition started in 2023 where basically we have French brands of ingredients supporting the event which is open for everyone to compete with recipes (with physical semi finals held) in five different cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata, where between eight to 10 semi finalists are decided,” he said adding that the competition was held in partnership with the Le Cordon Bleu School of Culinary Arts in Gurugram.
The semi-finalists are judged by a jury made up of an official from the French Consulate or Embassy, one professional chef and Meynier representing Business France.
The finals will be held at the Gurugram campus of Le Cordon Bleu and the chosen participants will prepare their dish from scratch there—as opposed to the semi final round when they pre-prepare their entries.
“There will be an award ceremony on the evening of the finals which will be held on June 10, 2025 where the prizes will be announced—the first prize being a trip to Paris with plane tickets and hotel stay,” Meynier said.
The participants of the competition were growing this year seeing more than 100 entries from which the semi finalists were chosen.
Those who made it to the finals this year are: Ashwani Sharma, Krishanu Dey, Ajith.K, Saravanan Kesavan, Jatinder Singh, Ishika Saraf, Vikash Rajak, Indrapal Singh, Fatima Knursheed, Pramit Ghosh, Aniket Das, Dishant Sipani, Krutika Santosh Gawas.
