Residents of Lambertville and its surrounding towns can now enjoy French cuisine at Sisao. The restaurant – whose name is oasis spelled backwards and is pronounced Sis Say Oh – offers “a dining experience inspired by the south of France”. That’s according to Co-Owner Judith Francois Held, wife of Executive Chef and Owner Brian Held.
The idea behind Sisao is to offer a la carte, small plates that add up to a hearty meal during the week. These smaller portions are perfect for any day of the week. Chef Brian, who already has a large fan following, curates this menu of lighter portions so customers will leave satisfied, but not overstuffed.

Small Plates. Big Flavor
Sisao has a menu that consists of many small-portion entrée-style dishes. This a la carte dining is only available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Menu highlights include braised octopus with tomato, capers, calamata olives and lemon over Israeli couscous; scalloped gnocchi with roasted wild mushrooms, braised leeks, and tarragon sauce; and lobster and sweet corn risotto. Chef Brian also makes homemade pasta and recommends their goat cheese ravioli and caramelized onion lasagna with truffle alfredo sauce.
Then on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, Sisao switches to a prix-fixe menu. Guests can enjoy an appetizer, entrée, and dessert from a list of available options per course. For example, appetizers may include seared rare tuna, braised oxtail quinoa, shrimp and anchovy butter, and pork belly fried rice. Entrées present options like braised short ribs, roasted duck breast with fig sauce, or baked cod ‘a la Cruset’ with garlic lemon, olive oil, and tomatoes. As for dessert, Chef Brian’s house favorite is bananas foster with brioche French toast, but other options are available.

About the Restaurant
Judith promises patrons won’t leave hungry after a visit to Sisao. “You’ll even leave with leftovers and feel like you’re getting your monies worth.”
Besides the a la carte and prix-fixe menus, Sisao hosts a themed chef’s tasting menu monthly. Planned tastings include Cuisine of Charlie Trotter and Oktoberfest—German Cuisine.
The 1,000-square foot space replaces Chef Brian’s previous restaurant. The newly redone interior can seat 43 diners, and is adorned with mirrors, gold tones, and a lot of greenery. Judith describes the space as “luxurious and intimate.”
