Did a test run and it was almost a 150 degree difference! iirc these are made in the US by Grillgrate.com for Traeger so either one is a great option. Will need to try it out with some reverse seared steaks soon!

WHOA!!!! Okay I was sceptical but now I’m convinced

Oh damn! Definitely going on the list!

Is it flat on both sides like that or am I seeing something wrong? I’ve only had two coffees today…

They are for real. On my 780 I can get mine to over 650deg. Having said that… I rarely do that as it requires a TON of pellets and I can just use a different grill with a few briquettes to sear as needed.

Grate…. just when I didn’t need to spend money

How does it work in practice? I do what i’ve seen others do, which is to turn the grill grates upside down, so it’s an extra couple inches closer to the heat source. I really do miss having a direct flame for searing and cooking though, for hot & fast cooks – burgers and sometimes steak.

I use a cast iron grill plate. Works decent if you let it heat up a while.

What was the ambient temp of your Traeger to get the grate to 582?

I was skeptical but picked up a set for my Pro22. Absolutely love them just about as much as my PMG racks. I’ve done burgers, dogs, brauts, salmon, and all kinds of other things on them and it’s been great. Once you get them well seasoned, cleaning them is easy too.

I have this. It’s awesome. Little pricey but I guess long term it’s worth it.

How can u post grill grates and saying they’re a huge upgrade without showing us some meat 🤔
Lordofthereef
Wow! Didn’t know traeger had their own branded grates. Or did they absorb the original grill grates company? Mine are going on ten years. I don’t use them that often anymore but when my traeger was my only outdoor cooking tool they saw a lot of use.
Topdawgluis
I bought them yesterday. Hell yeah they work. I’m not gonna buy another grill just to sear.

No more dry meat!

It works really well if you need grill marks on your steaks and chops like me
thejoshfoote
The problem isn’t if it works it’s the amount of time and how much pellets it takes, it’s not realistic to smoke a steak for example, then take it off the grill and wait for it to come up to temp. It’s just not worth it. U will spend more in pellets to sear than the searing plate costs quickly.

I use my blackstone to reverse sear after smoking
Hmmmm 🤔
