Doro Wat is an Ethiopian dish that combines onions, chicken, and boiled eggs into a stew. That brown-red sauce is like 95% minced onion. Really good and fairly spicy too. It’s served with sponge bread to sop everything up with.

  1. Glad those are eggs, the pic at first made me think they were whole lemons with a slice in them 🙂

No but I’d love to, that looks good as hell

  3. I have! It’s unbelievable. Thick dark sauce, spicy, intense savoury flavour. So much African cooking is massively underrated.

YES. I got Ethiopian last year with some coworkers and the guy there was so funny. This makes me wanna go back.

Yes. It is absolutely amazing and a great use of onions.

  6. Yes, this is why I miss the Chicago food scene. Arizona has very little African fare.

  7. Looks pretty yummy I must say

Had a quick search for the recipe and the 1st one was from ‘daringgourmet’ so may give it a try

I believe the sponge bread you’re looking for is called injera.
