Shaquille O’Neal’s attempt at improving his health resulted in an emergency bathroom run.
The former Lakers player and sports analyst appeared on ”The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday, where Fallon questioned him about a viral moment from an “Inside the NBA” episode that aired last month.
During the broadcast, O’Neal abruptly got out of his seat and shuffled off set, presumably heading to the bathroom. “Go ahead, keep talking,” he said to his co-hosts as he fled the scene. “That’s that olive oil you’ve been drinking,” his colleague Kenny Smith joked, adding to viewers at home, “He’s been drinking olive oil to clean his gut. He’s cleaning his gut, all right.”
When O’Neal returned, he was heard saying to his colleagues, “That was my number one, drinking that water,” seemingly claiming that it was just a quick restroom break caused by having too much water.
However, while talking to Fallon, O’Neal admitted the truth about the situation: “It wasn’t a number-one run. It was a number-two run. I had to go so bad,” he revealed. He further explained that Smith was right. O’Neal’s daily dosing of olive oil had triggered the viral moment.
He elaborated more on why he had been regularly drinking the common cooking oil. “I’m drinking olive oil because I want to be sexy,” O’Neal explained. “That’s what it said on Instagram. [It] said if you drink olive oil for 14 days, it clears stuff out, gets you a flat stomach. So I was trying it,” he explained.
Unfortunately, he did not share the results of his olive oil experiment. However, if there’s one lesson to take away from O’Neal’s experience, it might be best to avoid excessive olive oil unless you’re in a situation where a bathroom is easily accessible.
