I'm not sure when the West LA location opened, but I found out about it on this subreddit and now don't have to travel as far for the glory that is Mariscos Jalisco. Now that I can go more regularly I can try other things besides the Tacos de Cameron.

Pictured above is the beautiful and delicious Tostada Mixta: "tostada with fish ceviche topped with avocado, whole shrimp, octopus & veggies." I also had the Tostada Poseidon a previous time, but it was slightly too spicy for my taste. Are either of these actually better than the famed Tacos de Cameron? No… I don't think so. But all of the menu items seem to me to be worth trying. Which are your go-to items?

  1. I’d say La Cienega is right in midcity and not the west side. Definitely nice to have a location closer than DTLA though.

Just started going to this place with some regularity. Love the posideon. Burns my face off for a couple minutes but so good.

  3. Their Coctéles: Camarón / Campechana are a must at Jalisco

Mariscos 4 vientos coctéles are water in comparison

They come already packed with flavor & lime, not spicy at all – just add tapatío for a kick

(Also if you do make the drive, Mariscos Linda is 5min down Olympic from Jalisco – their coctéles/aguachiles are also must try)

Poseidon is my go to…with extra Valentina (or whatever giant orange-ish hot sauce bottle they have). It’s absolutely painful…but so worth it. Then a hit of a shrimp taco with the avocado to help soothe the heat. Every time I’m stuck in traffic on the 5 or whatever in that area I’m like…what if i just exit here and wait out traffic…

Kind of off topic, but can anyone explain to me what the famous tacos de Camaron are like? Is it like a ground shrimp type of thing, or whole shrimps? I’ve yet to try them but have been thinking about it for awhile now.
