For french mothers day, i surprised my wife with a tartare steak and a lovely Pontet canet. 2015 is the year we got together so i saved this bottle for the ocasion, and it simply delivered.
Oppened 2h30 hours before consumption, the nose was full of dark fruit, cassis, blackberry and some woody notes ( forest woody and not cask wood)
The tanins, silk and sweat, gave you the taste of "i want just one more drop"
Well balanced between the fruit, the cigar leaf and some chocolate notes, a real plaesure to share with my loved one.

One of the great over achievers in Bordeaux. Great wine!
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure Pontet-Canet doesn’t use much, if any, new oak, so the influence from the oak is much more restrained than other wines of this caliber — which is great! Absolutely lovely wines.
Hopefully, your wife appreciated the meal! Looks wonderful. Next time can I get an invitation?
I’ve got a magnum of 2007 I plan on opening in August, cannot wait!
That’s a charming wine!
Had one of these a few months ago. It was amazing! Best wine I’ve ever had. There was almost a really nice Olive scent and taste for lack of a better descriptor. Can anyone recommend wines that might be of similar quality and taste profile but on the even just a little bit less expensive side?
