TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Escape to VNV Patisserie et Chocolaterie, a charming dessert shop in Changhua, where a lush courtyard and antique-filled interior evoke the romance of southern France.
Founded by French pastry chef Vincent Pelte and Taiwanese chocolatier Valda Chang, who met and fell in love in Paris while working with M.O.F. patissier Laurent Duchene, VNV offers a unique sensory experience.
Pelte’s extensive pastry experience in Parisian institutions like Cafe de la Paix and The Ritz Paris, combined with Chang’s training under M.O.F. chocolate masters, ensures exceptional quality. They prioritize premium ingredients, both international and local.
Opened last November, VNV showcases classic French desserts crafted with seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients and a touch less sugar to suit Taiwanese palates. Indulge in their signature afternoon tea set, a curated journey through their classic and limited-edition creations, highlighting their dedication to flavor, aroma, and texture.
A standout is La Sicile (Memory), a special Mother’s Day dessert inspired by Pelte’s childhood. This heartwarming treat blends familiar Taiwanese ingredients with his nostalgic memories, offering a delicate walnut and Tahitian vanilla aroma followed by a light white chocolate vanilla mousse.
What sets VNV apart is its enchanting ambiance. Imagine stepping into a lush green courtyard, where the gentle breeze and warm sunlight create a scene reminiscent of Provence.
The shop’s design, a collaboration with Chang’s antique-collecting father, features handpicked 18th and 19th-century French pieces.
VNV attracts dessert enthusiasts seeking an authentic experience. While currently reservation-only with no delivery to ensure freshness, Taipei residents are in luck. VNV will be holding a pop-up at Eslite Spectrum Nanxi Store on May 16 and 17 as part of a dessert festival.
More than a dessert shop, VNV is a destination offering a taste of French passion in Taiwan.
