Each month, popular reservation app/website OpenTable analyzes nearly 2 million global diner reviews from the past four months. The results are then sorted by location and category. Below is Open Table’s May 2025 list of “Best Overall Restaurants in Maryland-DC Suburbs”:
• Muoi Tori (7006 Carroll Ave, Takoma Park): In addition to banh mi, summer rolls, and salads, which were offered from its food truck days, Muoi Tieu now offers more comfort dishes inspired by Owner/Chef Thuy-Tu Tran’s family, such as bun (rice noodle bowls), banh xeo (sizzling crepes), bot chien (fried rice cakes) and more along with beer and wine.

• Manalu Italian Restaurant (5227 Presidents Ct., Frederick, MD): “Manalu is a new authentic Italian restaurant by Chef/ Owner Marco Pontecorvo. The name was to combine all three of his family members names. MA for Marco, NA for Naomi, his daughter, and LU for Lucia, his wife. Manalu’s goal is to bring a taste of Italy and a touch of Naples in the town, by serving authentic Italian cuisine and the original pizza Napoletana cooked in a brick oven. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm, perfect for family and friends. Manalu also has a full bar and happy hour Mon-Fri from 4pm to 7pm. Happy hour also includes a food menu with delicious appetizers.”

• Fontina Grille (801 Pleasant Dr., Rockville, MD): “Fontina Grille, in the King Farm, offers the best of the best when it comes to oven-fired pizzas, fresh fish, gourmet pastas, bountiful salads and sandwiches. The granite bar divides two dining areas. To the left, a full service carry out counter offering everything from pizza and pasta, to ribeye steak and Lavazza coffee and cappuccino.”
