ENFIELD, CT — There is new life in the old Subway building on Hazard Avenue.
Italian meat specialist Trolio’s Market Monday announced it would be opening a location at the 323 Hazard Ave. storefront.
No formal date was announced, but the company seemed excited about “coming soon.”
“We are thrilled to announce that Trolio’s Market, your one-stop shop for the finest Italian meats, cheeses, imported goods, and more, will soon be opening its doors in Enfield, CT” the announcement said. “Get ready to embark on a culinary journey through the flavors of Italy right here in your neighborhood! Come experience the deliciousness at Trolio’s Market, where we offer a wide variety of fresh made sandwiches, paninis and salads. Our deli is the perfect spot to grab a quick and satisfying meal, whether you’re on the go or looking for a leisurely lunch.”
Last August, it was announced that the Subway shop at the location would be closing. It was a longtime culinary staple in the neighborhood and has been vacant ever since.
“Sorry, we have CLOSED,” the sign said back then. “Thank you for all your support over the years. Due to the tough times in our economy, we are not able to sustain the expenses at this location.”
On its website, Trolio’s Market bills itself as “a haven for traditional Italian food lovers.”
“We are dedicated to preserving authentic flavors through our old world recipes and artisanal methods that have been passed down through the generations. Our commitment to quality and heritage sets us apart, ensuring every bite is a taste of Italy,” the marketing statement added.
Offerings include traditional favorites like Cappocollo, a variety of hot and sweet sausages and a specialty called “artisanal salami.”
