My local hardware store features this selection of spice blends and sauces. Usually I mix up my own blend when grilling and smoking, but admittedly I tend to mix up the same thing every time. What do you guys think of these? Any gems I should grab?

I’m a big fan of the meat church blends. Especially Holy Voodoo!
Can’t go wrong with Meat Church or Blue Hog imo
I second the Blue Hog. Little on the pricey side but my god is the flavor worth it. The champions blend sauce with the dry rub is a good combo.
anything meat church, kosmos q, how to bbq right
Blues hog baby!
I always head for the meat church if I’m not making it from scratch myself. Same with bone sucking sauce. I like making my own sauce but that’s a good one if I don’t have time
Cosmos Honey chipotle Killer bee
I love Kosmos Texas Beef on everything.
Killer honey bee. And the Chipotle version. I use both for grilled chicken.
The Kosmos SPG and Dirty Bird are excellent. The Jack Daniels pork rub is good also. Haven’t tried any of the other ones.
Kosmos SPG (top shelf) won best steak at the world steak championships a couple years ago. It’s my favorite to use on steaks and burgers…
Kosmos dirty bird is what I use on wings and it’s fantastic
Meat church hot honey hog is my go to for pork.
I would reach for the Spiceology blends first. After that it’s a tossup, start reading the ingredient lists. A lot of those “blends” are mostly salt and sugar with a few spices mixed in. My favorites, which aren’t on that shelf, are the Kinder’s spice blends.
If I’m only allowed to take one item off this shelf, it’s the duck fat spray.
What are you trying to grill.. That will dictate your product
Meat church
Bottom left corner. My all time favorite: THE SQUEAL!! It’s seriously so so good
Meat Church has not let me down. They have a nice selection. Holy Cow seasoning is what I use for beef.
Meat church stuff is legit
Make your own rub, it’s so easy! I feel like a lot of these overpower on salt.
Meat church is solid (Holy Voodoo is great)
Truff is unique, but not worth it at that price. Stock up at Costco.
I bet half of them are the same stuff different label
same here, Malcom Reed is great
Smoken Ghost is good for wings. Small amount goes a long way.
That truff for 2 dollars is thievery.
Boars Night Out (Both of em) are staples around these parts. This is one hell of a selection. Find out who does the purchasing and you’ll be in for a treat as they’ll know what the best sellers are and when they restock. I’d imagine the purchaser is also a BBQ master too…
Stubbs
Hank sauce
Jack Stack seasoning! Kansas City native here, and thats a local favorite. Also the Blue Hog raspberry chipotle is good. If ya like hot sauces, grab that Hoff’s sauce because they recently went out of business so it’ll be your only chance
Bet 90 percent of them are salt and sugar
Looks like you’re in Kansas City! My personal favorites: the Cowtown Hog Rub at the bottom left for pork. Also would accept the Slaps seasoning at the top right.
Yard Bird in the bottom middle for chicken and turkey.
Blue’s Hog Bold Beef seasoning for steaks.
Truff hot sauce of amazing.
Blue label Kansas City Competition bbq sauce
Those are all my favorites here. This is a great selection for a small shelf.
Hardware stores in my area typically have older foodstuffs on their shelves. Make sure to check for any dates or fading of the wrapper or spices – that means UV damage and age which equals loss of flavor with spices.
Are you looking for a recommendation for a certain type of meat you plan to cook, or looking for a banger spice mix, then you’ll find an appropriate meat?
Meat Church! It’s all good!
Bone Suckin Seasoning & Rub or Meat Church Hot Honey Hog on pork
Blues Hog Bold and Beefy on beef with additional S&P
A lot of these are good seasonings but that duck fat is really handy and gives a nice richness to things.
I don’t know if they’re any good, but from a product marketing standpoint, those Spiceology labels are genius.
Get the duck fat spray. It’s good for a lot of things.
I am not partial to any of theses. If you are looking for a rub, make your own with the spices you like so it’s more to your taste.
Way cheaper to do your own and mix it to what taste you like
Everything Meat Church is top notch
Their prices are almost DOUBLE than what they are at the grocery store for those exact same items! I wouldn’t buy anything from that store.
