Bank holiday weekend creation! My family is having a difficult period (our youngest is having progressive health issues) and I'm finding some peace in baking for my loved ones. I'm not the best at this, but really enjoying the process. Love looking at the creations on this sub too.

I would have gone with giraffe tbh.
Baking is something I do to share goodness with those I love.
Leopard bread
First two comments are about how they should have named it after another animal. Tiger bread is already a thing in Holland and San Francisco. They didn’t name it themselves.
Where’s the crumb shot? The nerve of some people
I also bake for the peace of it. Initially i was kind of drawn by saving money, but i found that i enjoy the process very much and now bake for others as well.
My family is from Newfoundland and tradition is very important to us. Our hometown has no gas station and no bakery, so we made our own bread and the technique was passed on. Even though I live in the big city now, it reminds me of home.
But there’s also something unwholesome about the bread you get in the stores. Huge amounts of sugar, oil and strange additives like vitamin C. It’s one thing to have some orange juice in your bread, but these levels are extreme, and ascorbic acid is the least of the weird shit they use. Maybe it’s all fine, but at the end of the day I’m making better bread for less money with no B.S. in it.
Teach me! How do you do that topping?
That’s a really nice finish on that loaf. I was looking at some recipes for tiger bread over the weekend and they all looked quite thick
Seems to me like they should have named it 🐆 cheetah bread haha… I’ve only known it as dutch crunch, but seems like that’s a regional thing!
It’s my Zen and I get to feel good about feeding my family and friends stuff without all the chemicals and preservatives. Took me a few tries to get something soft and fluffy enough to get my 6 year old off wonder bread, as Japanese mill bread was too sweet
That looks lovely!
