  1. Happily-Non-Partisan

State and local governments are going to be like, “Okay, more for us!”

  2. kudos1007

Don’t worry, this just means the rich will start getting pay only in tips so they don’t have to pay taxes.

  3. Rich_Consequence2633

Well for starters if you read the proposed bill, it’s only tax free up to 25k. So after that it’s the same as it is now. That’s if the bill passes the Senate.

  4. WreckedOnTheDeck

Really establishing himself as a FOH president in the last couple of moves. Banning Mexicans to nerf the kitchens and then adding a server buff like this

  5. Blazinspeed76

don’t count your chickens before they hatch

  6. orangecatstudios

You all missed the important part. SCOTUS ruled that a payment payed to a politician before he acts is a bribe. But a payment payed after he acts is a gratuity. The next week, candidate Trump announced no tax on tips. He’s thinking about himself. And you know he isn’t self reporting shit.

  7. ShutYourDumbUglyFace

Oh, BOH still gets to pay taxes on their lower earnings. Makes sense, right?

  8. Pasadenaian

This looks like some right winged TikTok propaganda.

  9. tropicofpracer

This is what Mericans! think the FOH is making in states that don’t reduce the minimum wage for tipped employees. How dare service people that make a decent livable wage?! Fuck the MAGA grift.

  10. cthesmith

The beatings will continue until morale improves

  11. Independent-Ad8593

Everyone knows how declaring cash tips works, right?

  12. unicornsatemybaby

FOH here….I personally think no tax on tips is dumb. How about everyone making under $160k just gets a $25k deduction on their taxes? I’m all down for more money but I’m not in more need of it than anyone else barely surviving in this economy.

  13. FOH after a hard day’s work of talking to people and delivering other people’s work for a humble $500k a week (this is an unbiased and truthful opinion)

  14. Hagoromo-san

Get this Right Wing propaganda shit outta here. Better yet, shove it where the sun dont shine.

  15. security-six

This would never have been a conversation if the industry and the public would get on board the “no tip” policy that Danny Meyer had proposed years ago. He wanted to eliminate tips and raise pricing giving management the ability to dole out pay rates more fairly

  16. So funny to see for me as a swed

Don’t get me wrong legally we are supposed to tax it but every single person I’ve met in the industry doesn’t

We all collectively commit tax fraud

  17. STC_Ninjalo

Nothing. The people who make the food don’t matter/aren’t human beings. Only the “attractive” people giving them food matter.

  18. MaddyismyDog

What server EVER filed their tips?
That money never existed or was given to either a gas station or a dealer of exotic weeds
    Sheeple

  19. frogfluff90

Yes, because the 20% of taxes taken out of my check is the reason I don’t have a Lamborghini.

  20. cheezy_dreams88

    BOOOOO

Let’s all remember to not sell our coworkers out to the MAGA cult because of a few extra dollars.

  21. Agitated_Position392

Gg your Medicare though. Gonna have to sell that Rolex to cover your premiums and co-pay

  22. KentuckyWildAss

What you get is tricked into declaring your actual wages, then when the rug gets pulled out from under you in 2028, and you go back to not declaring everything, you’ll get a nice audit…

  23. i_invented_the_ipod

    What do you get?

You get massive cuts to Medicaid, so the shitty insurance you have to get through the healthcare.gov site because your employer doesn’t provide any is about to get even more expensive.

You get cuts to OSHA and FDA, so the unsafe and dirty kitchens you work in can get even dirtier and less safe, since nobody is ever going to inspect them.

You get random ICE raids of your workplace, because the “criminal immigrants” they CLAIM they want to deport are going to be a lot harder to track down than the regular guys holding down a day job and supporting a family.

You get rising prices for everything you buy, due to tariffs, and cuts in staffing to compensate, so you’ll be even more overworked.

This fucking guy couldn’t possibly care less about the struggles of working people. He just heard about this idea, and since the only working people he ever interacts with are tipped service workers, it sounds like a great idea.

  24. SnacktimeKC

A lot of people will start tipping less as a result of this.

  25. pandershrek

Lol, like servers were actually paying taxes.

Just another trick to distract the proletariat.

  26. ELECTRICMACHINE13

These guys didn’t read the actual bill. What was said and what was written into the Bill is completely different. There’s no tax on tips when you receive them but you still owe that money during tax season just like the rest of us who get paid and get out taxes taken out. There are going to be so many servers in January that are going to be so angry.

  27. SnakeIsUrza

Pretty sure that the economy will crash. We will all out of jobs. Fun times!

  28. The bill should have provided employee rights and minimum wages. Tips are fundamentally unjust anyway. #notips

  29. JordyNecroman

Username is we 4 Donald. Fuck this propaganda bullshit. Like anyone’s claiming cash tips

  30. If yall have been paying tax on cash tips to begin with… you’re stupid.

  31. cataclyzzmic

Countdown to investment and RE brokers getting “tips” instead of commission. This was never about the service industry workers getting jacked on hourly wage vs paid tips.

  32. I genuinely can’t believe that there are people here thinking this is some right wing propaganda or some bullshit when it’s clearly just people making a sketch. Y’all take everything so seriously in the states.

  33. nospimi99

The “no tax on tips” part of the budget proposed only applies to cash tips btw. So literally NOTHING will have changed. All performative once again

  34. HuntersGathers

What kind of bourgeoisie propaganda is this bullshit?

  35. genSpliceAnnunaKi001

This entire topic makes me cranky. I’m an old school server/bartender and for ever we kept cash tips nightly and credit card tips were deducted from cash table turn in. So we were paid cash nightly forrrevvver, then each individual paid their own taxes accordingly. That’s why for ever, no server ever got a pay check and we always owed at the end of the year.
No tax on tips isn’t new, it’s always been that way. It’s only become an issue cause nobody pays cash anymore. Serving has always been a side hustle, and intelligent diners will always kick down for better service.

  36. Ecksbutton

*laughs in Australian living wage and medicare*

  37. ComfortableToe7508

Trump understands his elite class needs servants , also this is a lie tips will be taxed

  38. LimitedNipples

Y’all’s bitterness for FOH is so cringe. If you envy the idea of tips so much why don’t you do it.
