I think it’s more from social media. I had never bought sardines until a few months ago when I saw tinned fish reviews on tik tok

Well I had a good 35 years of enjoying delicious cheap sardines. Hopefully this fad doesn’t affect the price of sardines too dramatically. I never thought I would miss the days when most people were repulsed at the thought of eating sardines.

’Deens aren’t even that cheap anymore, especially if you’re not going for the absolutely bottom of the barrel ones. You can find loads of cheaper protein. Like even 2€ for a 100g can is pretty expensive if you think about it in terms of price per kg, and that would be on the cheaper end of ’deens.

Sorry, that was just me buying all the remaining Patagonia mackerel

No no no. Cheap sardines and fish are still here forever. Because they don’t taste great. What is on the rise is 20 dollar cans from whole foods that used exquisite marketing and product packaging. Even the connoisseur like myself had to try the dry salmon packaged in a popular but less tasteful chili oil.

  6. Most people are picky eaters and would laugh at the idea of eating canned fish regularly. I highly doubt that’s changing anytime soon.

People would rather eat ramen for the most part. I don’t think anything will take over that as the budget food
