I would almost assume someone mislabeled that. There is no way that was labeled prime. Even the worst prime looks like shitty choice but that’s decent select at best.

Honestly, for a similar price I can get singleton steaks of the same cut and better quality at my local grocery. We don’t often utilize Costco for cuts like these, tour not getting a deal.

I feel like I’m going crazy when I see what stores are labeling as “prime” these days. That’s about on par with what I’ve been seeing for the past 2-3 years.

Stopped buying meat from Costco a year ago. The quality/price is wild these days. Support your local butcher

Ya know, just because it doesn’t have as insane marbling as other prime, I’d wager it’s still more tender and more flavorful than the other Costco choice steaks. My guess is the prime steaks come from a different farm than the choice steaks and the animals are treated differently. I might be wrong idk tho.
But I have had prime steaks with less marbling that were noticeably better than similar choice counterparts.
They look bomb and I am very jealous

Costco has been trolling on their beef for 5+ years now. I get chicken and some local wild caught fish there but I get my prime beef from a local butcher (for a lot cheaper /lb too)

Until you learn that’s not how grading works, you will continue to see things you think are graded incorrectly.
That is absolutely mislabeled. That doesn’t even come close to the level of marbling for even Choice. That is Select no question about it.
