Broccoli — we all know it’s a powerhouse of health! Packed with antioxidants, it fights inflammation and keeps your body feeling its best But do we really wash and store it the right way to keep all its amazing benefits intact? Step One: Cleaning the Broccoli ¼ cup of white vinegar 1 tablespoon of salt This step helps get rid of pesticide residues and any hidden worms Let it soak for 10 minutes Rinse it thoroughly under running water If the broccoli head is large, it’s best to cut it into smaller pieces before washing — it makes cleaning so much easier Start by cutting the florets one by one, then remove the stem Don’t toss the broccoli stem! Just peel and slice it — you can use it in the same recipe or save it for another delicious dish Step Two: Storing the Broccoli Method One — Steaming Once the water boils and steam rises, place the broccoli florets on the steaming rack and let them steam for just 2 minutes Immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice-cold water to stop the cooking process Method Two — Quick Boiling (Blanching) Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add a teaspoon of salt, then drop the broccoli florets into the boiling water Let them cook for just 1 to 2 minutes Immediately transfer them to ice-cold water to stop the cooking process Look at that color difference! Steamed broccoli looks greener because blanching quickly stops the enzymes and locks in its color After steaming or blanching, dry the broccoli well and store it in freezer-safe bags… This way, it stays fresh in the freezer for up to 10 months, keeping its vibrant color and nutrients intact. A simple way to keep broccoli fresh: Cut off the bottom of the stem, wrap it in a damp kitchen towel, and keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Or place it in a glass of water and keep it in the fridge — it will stay fresh for up to a week.
