Who else grew up eating burgers with sliced bread?
My wife and daughter are enjoying an indoor water park with her side of the family. I didn’t have the PTO to go, but decided to treat myself after going back to work after the holiday.

I ain’t missing out on a burger because all I got is sliced bread!

It’s better than a cheap bun that’s for sure
auld-guy
All the time…both toasted and untoasted. And my grandkids prefer them that way now too.

Yes because my family was poor and it was cheaper. Just lightly toast the side the burger touche’s so the bread doesn’t go soggy

Grew up? My friend just had a cookout and served them with bread a couple weeks ago.

I did, sometimes I still get a craving for it.

For someone watch my calories I eat like this every day , take a slice of sour dough break it in half and now it’s my top and bottom bun at only 100 calories

Yup. Toss the bread, eat the burger. Same as if it were a bun (except brioche or ciabatta maybe)

damn that looks delicious

Humble beginnings. Slice bread was all purpose bread

Burgers, hot dogs, sloppy joes you name it. I dont eat a burger for the bun, and while a good one can enhance it there is something nostalgic about just throwing it on lightly toasted whitebread.

Eddie Murphy’s stand up on his mom making him a burger that was supposed to be “better than McDonalds “ was hilarious. He touched on the bread issue. Look it up.

Me, I thought it was normal for a good minute in life.

That plus some A-1 to dip it in? Son you’re almost to a Prime Rib Dip!

I still prefer it with bread unless I buy over priced “fancy” buns I think they just don’t taste good and why buy those when I have pretty good tasty bread I can use instead…I’ll use em for dogs too.

Yeah. We didn’t have much growing up, but we had all we needed. Sliced bread burger pucks around our house. Only time I saw a hamburger or hotdog bun was when we went to the grandparents house. 🙂

Yup, usually we just had sliced bread in so both burgers and hotdogs in there – admittedly rolling up a hotdog is much easier!
Even these days when I have any leftovers the following day I will just use whatever bread we have on hand, or even wrapped up with cheese/sauce in a tortilla wraps.
discordianofslack
I did, that’s why I hate it.

Been cooking them and eating them like this for four decades. Didn’t grow up poor, my dad just showed me this is the way he learned it in the military.

I live in Connecticut and there’s a place in New Haven there’s a place here downtown called Louis Lunch. It’s allegedly supposed to be the first place to have hamburgers in the US or something like that. They only serve it on white bread or toast. And I believe no ketchup or anything I think it’s just a slice of tomato
DrSeussDickPic
With the fried egg n bacon that’s more akin to a breakfast sandwich than a burger. Still solid tho
TheseVirginEars
Man I love me some breakfast burgers nicely done sir. The egg is slowly becoming less and less optional for me
