This is pretty pricey, compared to other hot sauces. I couldn't find the Choula extra hot in any local store but thought it was reasonable at $3.82 for a 5fl.oz. bottle on Amazon. But this sauce is highly regarded and I am curious, but I find it expensive. Is it worth it? Is it versatile? And is there a homemade recipe I can try? (I recently tried the not-so-secret aardavark recipe and it was close, and cost competitive). Any thoughts are welcome, and thanks in advance!

I like it. Will buy again too. I got 3/4 of a bottle left and it’s still kickin my ass.
I love it, and the honey badger one. But i usually wait till sales and discounts and buy multiples.
Nearly $20 is outrageous imo, but they do make really nice sauces. I wait for torchbearer to have a sale then pickup four or five sauces to make it worth it at about 30% off.

I like it.. the heat level will cause the bottle to last a while. Don’t think I’ll buy another one after this, too much fun trying new types and it’s not good enough to become a fixture in my supply. But as far as price goes it’ll probably last quite a while unless your one of those people that isn’t affected by heat at all. It’s great for mixing with mayo or adding heat to a bowl of chili or soup.
Don’t know if its still going but Torchbearer website was running a sale on all sauces. I jumped on it thanks to a bro in this sub. Good luck, and might as well get the Honey Badger while you’re at it. Best sauce out there IMO

Yes it is. It has a large following for a reason so grab a bottle and prepare for delicious pain, its no joke but very worth it for the flavor.

Honestly at that price, it’s not for me personally. It’s good, but not that good. However it’s also not so expensive that you shouldn’t get it at least once, try it for yourself and be part of the conversation whenever it’s mentioned. I liked the sauce, but not enough that I would buy it again.
Torchbearer has a great line of sauces, but I wouldn’t get it through Amazon, because fuck Amazon. Try either Heatonist’s site (they have a good selection of Torchbearer’s sauces and a lot of other niche sauces) or even Torchbearer’s own site. Definitely worth trying a few of their sauces.
Torchbearer’s site usually does sales.
They make quality sauce and probably my #1 (zombie apocalypse).

No. This is the most overrated sauce on r/hotsauce and I’m willing to be downvoted to oblivion for it. It needs salt and is way way way too unbalanced. Torchbearer makes good sauce, this isn’t one of them.

That’s about what I paid for mine from a local hardware store. I say it’s worth it. You don’t need much, it’s hot, and has great garlic flavor.
I’ve sent it for 25 bucks where I live.
I don’t care to build my tolerance to this heat level. It’s just too much.
Hit or miss for different people. I love garlic and found this really gross. The color is so appealing I kept trying it but eventually gave it away.

The sauce is very spicy, so there’s no need to use a lot. Judging by the hot sauces you mentioned, you’ll probably just need a few droplets at a time. It also has a roasted garlic flavor (in my opinion). I find it to be worth it.. but I’m a bit biased on the matter. The person saying it’s overrated doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It’s worth it to at least give a try if you have the funds.
Yeah. I get mine for like $8-ish per bottle. It’s very hot, so it goes a long way. $14 isn’t absurdly high.
Can only find online here in Canada at 25$ a bottle
