My fiance has not been a fan of the almost 20 year old Traeger I inherited from my dad and refinished, since according to him it can't cook burgers and steaks with a proper sear and takes too long to heat up and use. After searching around for some time I eventually found this and after watching some reviews it seems like a good compromise between a high heat grill and a smoker. Did some burgers and hotdogs yesterday which came out great, and trying out a preseasoned brisket from Aldi today which will smoke for 6-7 hours
My only dislike so far, like other people have mentioned about these, is just two wheels instead of casters so I'll be adding some once I decide we are for sure keeping this thing. App is great, and wifi connection was a breeze and has been steady.

Making pork on mine right now. I think you’ll like it. It’s been a great machine for me.
Do you have another ambient temp probe you can use to measure air temp inside the smoker when running? When running my new Searwood set to 250, my FireBoard probes are measuring only 220.
The steakhouse marinated petite beef tenderloin from Aldi is divine. Smoke it until it hits 115 then sear it to finish temp! Hope your birkset goes well
Just ordered mine yesterday to get the free shelf. Looking forward to setting it up this weekend!
What temp probe are you recommending we should buy? ThermoPro or Meater Pro?
Your fiancée doesn’t realize a pellet grill isn’t the right tool for a good sear. For the sear part get a flat top grill and you’ll be set
Easy to put together?
My Searwood temp is always cooler than whatever I set it to. If I want 225, then I need to set it to 240-245, if I want 250, then I set it to 270-275. I use the included wired probe as an ambient temp sensor and then use either a MEATER or a 2nd Weber probe (that I had to buy) for whatever I’m cooking.
The MEATER’s ambient sensor gave me the initial indicator of the poor quality of the Searwood sensor.
Notice how Weber has an algorithm that just reports the red line to whatever you set the temperature to. Useless.
However, since I’m now using one of the probes as an ambient, I’m loving this thing.
