A gourmet Italian restaurant in MetroWest is shutting down after 16 years.

Tavolino Italian Gourmet in Westborough wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday that the restaurant is permanently closing on March 1.

While the post did not provide a specific reason for the closure, it read that the restaurant was “devastated by this news.”

“It has been an absolute pleasure to host each and every one of you,” the post reads. “Whether it was a casual lunch at the bar, celebrating a family birthday, hosting a wedding reception or preparing to welcome a new addition to the family … we thank you for allowing us the honor to be a part of those special and truly special moments.”

The restaurant is encouraging patrons to stop by for one last meal before its doors officially close.

Tavolino Italian Gourmet opened in 2009, serving classic Italian fare including pizzas, pastas and more. Tavolino also has a location in Foxborough.

“This is a real loss for the community,” one Facebook user commented on Tavolino’s post. “We have always had lovely time there.”

“Always the most wonderful food and service,” another user commented. “I am so sorry.”

Tavolino Italian Gourmet is located at 33 E Main St. in Westborough.
