2nd season with the new Norfolk Healthy Produce "The Purple Tomato" they released last year. I harvested the seeds and am happy with year 2 results so far. Good flavor but damn do they bang on the dishes I've been using them on.

Loved these last year, they produced the best and were the heartiest of the six varieties I grew.

I crossed them with Black Krim last year, and have the plants growing. I’m hoping for large purple fruits!

Oh that’s how they got that purple ketchup back in the 90s!

It’s a beautiful fruit for sure. My question is taste. How does it compare to say, a Roma, or a big boy?

Wow…last season I had a few purple ones growing. I had to restrain myself from eating them all bc they tasted so good.

I saved a few of those seeds – does planting seeds from those yield a higher chance for more purple ones?

Dumb question but how do you know when these are ripe if they don’t turn red? I’m growing some purple / black cherry tomato variant but unclear when they will ripen.
