A while back, when I posted about going to Berlins in WeHo for a döner sandwich, someone mentioned "hey, they serve that in Pasadena at the new Frankfurter Guys" (s/o u/rye_parian).

As it turns out, they took over the same small storefront in north Pasadena (Allen/Washington) that used to be occupied by Tasty Yerevan (which has since moved to Glendale). I could have sworn I posted about Tasty Yerevan before but I guess not. What's worth knowing: they do a pork shawarma but that's a post for another time.

Frankfurter Guys döner was quite similar to Berlins: similar composition, similar style of pide bread. I thought the serving size here was larger but the price was also a buck or two more: $21 with tax and tip.

Overall, this was good: the beef slices were well-seasoned and the light char from the spit brings out that tasty tallow flavor. There was decent acid from the other ingredients and sauce. On its own, I'd give this a 8/10 (and I'd also retroactively reset Berlins' version to the same score, down from a 8.5) because I'm mostly reminded "man, Sababa has ruined me on other remotely similar sandwiches." That said, it’s also nice to know Frankfurters is relatively nearby and I'm down to try the chicken döner in the future. (They also have brats, FWIW)
