First time here. I ordered the Rimini ($21) Porchetta, crema di gorgonzola, truffled cream, spicy roasted eggplant, baby arugula
In the battle for focaccia sandwiches, I gotta give the overall winner to Lorenzo, BUT with a few caveats.
Although the bread at Lorenzo is delicious, I like the bread much more at Mamie. It’s crispier and has a bolder flavor from the sea salt.
The porchetta was thinly sliced and delicious, while the cheeses offered a nice textural change and freshness. The arugula was crispy and sharp in flavor.
For it to be a more equal comparison I should’ve ordered a similar sandwich at Mamie as I did Lorenzo which would’ve been a mortadella based. The sandwich I did order though was tasty, but the eggplant kinda made it a less enjoyable sandwich. They are cut into big chunks and rubbery, and also almost stale? I think that’s the best way to describe it.
Service was also not it at Mamie and it was extremely hot, I’m not sure if the A/C was just broken today which made everyone miserable or this is a common thing but service was just better at Lorenzo.
I’ll still make a return to Mamie but trying a different sandwich!
