So I got the steak as it was offered at a no added cost option. I’ve had it years past and wasn’t a fan of the chewy-ness of it. I decided to give it another try and the only way I could describe it was like biting into a firm foam mattress topper. My boyfriend called it meat sponge cake. The taste was fine but the texture was impossible to get over.

i assume it’s a result of the added sodium phosphate which is used to make the meat more juicy and hold more water, among other things

I skip their steak meals and pork chop meals. I tried one pork chop meal and I didn’t like the quality. Their pork filets have been good though.

I never get the ranch steak, bavette is hit or miss (usually miss), pork chops I just started getting again cause the reviews here have been decent. I mostly just shrimp, fish, chicken and ground beef from HF and buy steak / nicer proteins from a local grocery on occasion

I stopped getting that cut of steak. It’s way too chewy

Ranch steak is a cheaper cut and is meant to be tenderized in some fashion. I quit getting any of the meals with Ranch steak after I almost choked to death on a piece of it. I will shell out the extra $ for the tenderloin.
That was one thing I liked about Sunbasket, their steak cuts were Sirloin, new York strip, porterhouse and filet Mignon. A few bucks more but the meat quality was much better.
